Liverpool have completed the signing of French striker Hugo Ekitike in the summer of 2025. The new forward joins the Premier League champions from Eintracht Frankfurt on a long-term deal.
Ekitike was born in Reims, France, where he started playing for local side Cormontreuil FC before moving to the Reims academy in 2013. He signed his first professional contract in 2020 and made his senior debut the same year.
In 2021, he spent a short loan spell in Denmark with Vejle Boldklub, scoring three goals and giving two assists in 11 matches. When he returned to Reims, he made a big impact by scoring 11 goals and four assists in the 2021-22 season.
His form caught the eye of Paris Saint-Germain, who signed him in 2022. At PSG, he played alongside stars like Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi and Neymar. He featured in the Champions League and helped the club win the Ligue 1 title, though game time was not always easy to find.
A move to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024 gave him fresh chances. He impressed with 15 goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga during the 2024-25 season. His performances earned him a place in the Team of the Season, and Frankfurt also reached the Europa League quarter-finals.
Now, Liverpool have won the race to sign the 23-year-old striker. Ekitike is expected to bring height, speed, and goals as Arne Slot’s side looks to defend their Premier League crown.
