
CS Julius Migos had officially opened the Mombasa Maritime Fair, coinciding with the celebrations of World Maritime Day at the Kenya Maritime Authority.The event was organized by the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic in partnership with the Kenya Maritime Authority and brought together a wide range of stakeholders from the maritime sector.
Speaking at the launch, CS Migos emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in developing a sustainable and competitive maritime industry.
“This Fair demonstrates our readiness to collaborate as a region, bringing together government agencies, educational institutions, private sector players, development partners, and representatives from neighbouring countries and beyond,” he said.
The event provided a platform for showcasing maritime innovations, industry trends, and opportunities for partnerships.
CS Migos highlighted that initiatives like the Mombasa Maritime Fair are crucial for promoting knowledge sharing, enhancing trade, and improving the capacity of the maritime workforce.
The Fair was also attended by Governor of Mombasa County, Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir, who lauded the government and organizing partners for promoting the maritime sector as a driver of economic growth.CS Migos called on stakeholders to leverage the Fair to strengthen industry networks, foster investments, and encourage sustainable practices within sector.
He also underscored the importance of training and education in preparing the next generation of maritime professionals.
The Mombasa Maritime Fair served as convergence point for industry players, policy makers, educators, reflecting Kenya’s commitment to advancing the maritime sector both locally and regionally.
The event further highlighted opportunities for innovation, collaboration, & growth in a sector critical to Kenya’s economic development, regional trade.
