Kenya’s First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, on Thursday, 25 September, hosted Suzanne Innes-Stubb, the First Lady of Finland, at State House in Nairobi for a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
The visit, which comes as part of Finland’s efforts to deepen cooperation with Kenya, focused on women’s empowerment, education, climate action, and sustainable development.
In a statement shared after the meeting, Mama Rachel Ruto expressed her delight at receiving the Finnish First Lady and highlighted the importance of such engagements in fostering people-to-people connections and international partnerships.
During the visit, the two First Ladies toured projects championed by Mama Rachel’s Mama Doing Good initiative, which empowers women through table banking and climate-smart agriculture programmes.
Suzanne Innes-Stubb commended Kenya’s efforts in championing grassroots development and pledged Finland’s support for similar programmes that uplift vulnerable communities.
The Finnish First Lady’s visit is expected to open doors for more collaborative projects in education, health, and environmental sustainability between the two nations.
