
Former Governor Mike Sonko on Thursday issued a heartfelt appeal to the public to help trace relatives of a young girl, approximately one year old, who is currently hospitalized at Misuuni Hospital.The toddler was brought to the facility around 10 pm on September 24 by well-wishers after her mother tragically died in a road accident at the Emali/ Oloitoktok junction.
The mother was hit by a lorry, died on the spot. Her body was taken to Kilome Nursing, and reports indicate that she had no identification documents on her.
In a social media post, Mr. Sonko called on anyone who might recognize the child to come forward to assist in locating her family.
He emphasized the urgency of the matter, noting that tracing the child’s relatives would ensure she receives the care and support of her family.
“Anyone who might recognize the child, please present themselves at the hospital to help trace her family or relatives. If in case her relatives cannot be traced, I am willing to chip in and adopt her,” he said.The former governor’s statement has drawn widespread attention online, with many expressing concern for the young girl and offering assistance in locating her family.
Authorities and hospital staff are urging members of the public to provide any information that could help reunite the child with her relatives.
The toddler is currently receiving medical care and is in stable condition.
This is will not be the first time Sonko has adopted a child, Earlier this year, he adopted a young boy who witnessed his father’s gruesome murder in Mathare Area 4 while being taken to school.
