Wiper Democratic Front (WDF) party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a passionate call to residents of Kiambu County to register in large numbers as voters ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Speaking during a public rally held in Thika Town, Musyoka emphasized the importance of active civic participation, saying that real change can only come through the ballot.
“This is the time to rise and be counted. If you want change, if you want better leadership, you must register to vote,” Musyoka told the energized crowd.
He stressed that voter registration is the first and most critical step in shaping the county’s and the nation’s future.
In a bold and direct statement, Musyoka took aim at Kiambu County’s current leadership, declaring, “Kasongo must go!”
Musyoka criticized the current government for what he termed as “years of failed promises, rising unemployment, and lack of transparency in development projects.”
“The people of Kiambu deserve better. They deserve leadership that listens, that delivers, and that serves with integrity,” Musyoka said.
“We will not stand by and watch as our young people lose hope, as our mothers struggle to access health services, and as public funds disappear into pockets of the few.”
The Wiper Democratic Front leader also used the opportunity to drum up support for his party’s candidates in the region, hinting that WDF would field a strong contender to challenge Ruto in the 2027 elections.
Local political observers say Musyoka’s remarks signal WDF’s growing interest in Mount Kenya politics, a region that has traditionally leaned toward other political formations.
However, with shifting alliances and growing public discontent, Kiambu is emerging as a key battleground for opposition parties looking to expand their influence.
Voter registration in Kenya remains open through periodic registration drives spearheaded by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Musyoka urged youths and first-time voters to take advantage of the ongoing exercise and ensure they are eligible to vote when the time comes.
“Let us not wait until it’s too late. Your vote is your voice. Use it wisely,” he concluded.
