On Friday, September 26, 2025, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua joined key leaders of the United Opposition—including Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K Leader Eugine Wamalwa, PLP Leader Martha Karua, DP Party Leader Justin Muturi, and DCP National Organizing Secretary Mithinka Linturi—at the People’s Liberation Party Special National Delegates Conference (NDC) held at Ufungamano House in Nairobi, Kenya.
The gathering was convened to reinforce political cohesion among opposition parties, deliberate on a shared national agenda, and address pressing governance challenges ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
During the conference, Gachagua emphasised that unity among opposition parties is essential for fostering innovation, implementing effective solutions, and addressing Kenya’s longstanding issues of mismanagement and corruption.
Leaders collectively underscored the need to present a strong, united front to tackle governance challenges and create a political environment rooted in accountability, transparency, and service to citizens.
A key highlight of the event was the unanimous endorsement of Martha Karua by the People’s Liberation Party as its official Presidential Candidate for the 2027 elections.
Gachagua expressed pride in his sister’s nomination, celebrating it as a significant milestone for opposition politics and a symbol of integrity and leadership that resonates with the Kenyan electorate.
Leaders emphasised that, at the appropriate time, opposition parties will unite behind a single candidate to maximise their electoral impact and offer Kenyans a credible alternative to the current administration.
The conference concluded with a strong call for continued dialogue, strategic planning, and sustained cooperation among opposition forces to ensure that Kenya experiences a future defined by transparency, effective governance, and national prosperity.
