Eldas MP Adan Keynan has cautioned opposition leaders against persistently criticizing President William Ruto, urging them to respect the office and allow him to perform his duties. Speaking during a public event in Wajir, he noted that while criticism is part of democracy, leaders must avoid excessive interference that distracts the Head of State.
Keynan reflected on Kenya’s presidential history, reminding the opposition that all past leaders—from Jomo Kenyatta to Uhuru Kenyatta—were given space to govern. He stressed that President Ruto deserves the same level of respect to fulfill his mandate effectively.

According to the legislator, constructive engagement is more beneficial than constant political commentary. He added that continuous attacks weaken national unity and derail progress on key development projects.
The MP lauded President Ruto for steering infrastructural growth, particularly in road construction and public works. He highlighted that these initiatives are positively transforming livelihoods across the country.
Keynan also acknowledged the president’s legislative achievements, including reforms that eased access to crucial services. He argued that such accomplishments should be recognized instead of drowned out by daily criticism.
He called on both political figures and citizens to channel their energy into supporting policies that uplift communities. In his view, a united front will help Kenya achieve long-term stability and prosperity.
Keynan insisted that leaders must appreciate the democratic principle of respecting elected offices. He emphasized that undermining the presidency erodes confidence in institutions and undermines national governance.
