Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has hit back at former President Uhuru Kenyatta, telling him to “relax” in retirement and stop politicising matters of governance and security.
Speaking on Saturday, Sudi accused Uhuru of hypocrisy, saying he presided over a poor administration despite enjoying full support for 10 years. He insisted the former president should leave government matters to the current leadership.
“Some leaders are lecturing us about failed projects despite failing to deliver themselves during their time. You can’t do anything else now. We supported you, and you went home. Let others lead,” Sudi said.
The MP, a close ally of President William Ruto, has previously criticised Uhuru and opposition leaders for what he describes as attempts to frustrate the Kenya Kwanza government.
His remarks came a day after Uhuru launched a scathing attack on Ruto during a Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference at Ngong Racecourse.
Uhuru accused the government of intolerance, citing its heavy-handed response to Gen Z protests. He argued that leadership should focus on dialogue and inclusivity, especially with young people.
“This requires having an open mind and a listening ear, even to those you disagree with—and especially to the voices of the younger generations,” Uhuru said.
He lamented that many of his administration’s achievements had been eroded, pointing to the collapse of programmes such as Linda Mama, which he claimed were replaced with untested schemes.
Uhuru and Ruto, once close allies, parted ways ahead of the 2022 elections, with Uhuru throwing his weight behind Raila Odinga. Their fallout continues to fuel the political rivalry shaping Kenya’s leadership debates.
