Mwanaisha Chidzuga’s journey from media personality to senior government official reflects a dynamic blend of legacy, ambition, and resilience.
Appointed in October 2023 by President William Ruto as Kenya’s Deputy Government Spokesperson, Chidzuga now occupies a strategic role in shaping public communication from the State House.
Her political roots trace back to her late mother, Zainabu Chidzuga, a prominent figure in Kwale County politics.
Zainabu was elected as the Kwale Women Representative in 2013 on an ODM ticket. However, her political trajectory shifted dramatically after a fallout with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
She defended her seat in 2017 under the Jubilee Party but lost, marking the end of her political career. Zainabu passed away in 2021, leaving behind a legacy that her daughter would later inherit and reshape.
Before stepping into politics, Mwanaisha Chidzuga was a celebrated TV anchor, known for her work at KTN and K24. Her media career earned her national recognition and credibility, which she leveraged in her transition to public service.
In 2022, she contested the Matuga parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket but was defeated by Kassim Tandaza of ANC.
Chidzuga’s appointment as Deputy Government Spokesperson followed her stint at Radio 47, where she continued to engage with public discourse.
