Detectives have launched an investigation after a decomposing body was discovered inside a car in Chuka town.
The deceased, identified as a 29-year-old man, was found inside his blue Subaru parked along a busy street near KCB Bank.
According to reports, a foul odor and a swarm of flies attracted the attention of passersby and local residents, who then alerted the authorities.
Police officers responded swiftly and broke into the car, where they found the man’s lifeless body slumped behind the driver’s seat, already in an advanced state of decomposition.
Upon further inspection, two jikos, which appeared to have contained burnt charcoal, were discovered in the car’s boot.
The scene quickly drew a large crowd, prompting police to cordon off the area and maintain order.
The cause of death remains unknown, pending the results of a postmortem examination. Police transferred the body to a local mortuary, while the vehicle was towed to the local police station for further analysis.
A specialized multi-agency team, including homicide and forensic detectives, has been deployed to conduct a detailed investigation.
