Ryan Injendi, son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, has finally spoken out hours after losing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations. The nominations, held on Saturday, September 20, saw Kabras West MCA David Ndakwa emerge victorious in a closely contested race.
Ryan Injendi, who finished second, expressed disappointment over the process but remained determined to continue his political journey. Addressing the press on Sunday, September 21, he claimed that senior UDA officials interfered in the primaries, alleging that his votes were manipulated.
“They stole my votes. I got information that top officials met my competitor, though I do not know the purpose of the meeting. Why interfere during primaries?” Ryan asked, hinting at alleged irregularities.
He also highlighted incidents of violence during the nomination exercise, reporting that one of his supporters was injured and had to be hospitalized. Despite the setbacks, Ryan affirmed his loyalty to President William Ruto and the UDA party.
“I will not leave UDA. My commitment to President Ruto and the party remains strong. I aim to capture this seat in the 2027 General Election,” Ryan stated confidently.
David Ndakwa, the winner, received 8,756 votes against Ryan’s 6,262. Leonard Shimaka and Simon Kangwana followed with 3,582 and 2,341 votes, respectively. Ndakwa thanked his supporters and vowed to work tirelessly for Malava constituents.
Ndakwa will now represent UDA in the Malava by-election, facing off against DAP-K’s Seth Panyako and DCP’s Edgar Busiega. Panyako’s eligibility has been challenged due to alleged failure to resign from a state position in time.
Ryan urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure a free and fair by-election scheduled for November 27.
Despite the nomination loss, Ryan Injendi remains focused on his political ambitions, signaling a determined return in the next general elections.
