Zachariah Nabalayo sat next to his wife, their faces veiled in a cloud of sorrow following a significant loss.
They held their loved one’s portrait as they battled to come to terms with the untimely demise. Zachariah from Machakos told the terrible facts of his daughter’s death, including plans for her burial.
Jael Nabalayo’s mother and father are still in shock and sadness over her loss. The young child died after drowning during a swimming gala on Thursday, September 11.
Jael, a Grade 6 student at Syokimau Blessed Assurance Academy, died at Blessed Assurance Junior School, which is under the same supervision.
“They held a swimming practice, and our child was discovered in the water after being there for around one minute and five seconds.
“They attempted to resuscitate her, but she was not responding,” Jael’s father, Zachariah Nabalayo, stated.
CCTV footage from the school management captured the 11-year-old’s dying moments during the terrible tragedy.
During his normal check, the lifeguard on duty noticed an unresponsive Jael laying in the swimming pool. The horrified lifeguard acted quickly to rescue the tiny girl from beneath the waves.
Other students were sitting on the pool’s railings, unknowing that one of their classmates had passed away.
Jael was transported to a neighboring clinic and then moved to Veteran Mission Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
“When we arrived, we discovered our child lifeless. This is the short and sad account we have to tell regarding the tragedy.
We have lost our wonderful daughter, and we are devastated by this occurrence,” Zachariah continued.
