The institution, famed for producing academic giants and notable alumni such as Kericho Governor Eric Mutai and Unga House MD Malel Choge, was reduced to ashes in Sunday’s inferno.
According to reports, the unrest was fueled by demands for immediate changes in school management. Police officers were overwhelmed by the scale of the riot as students allegedly set dormitories and other key facilities ablaze.
On Monday, the school’s Board of Management resolved to suspend all learning activities indefinitely, despite national examinations being only weeks away.
This marks the second violent strike at Litein Boys this year, following similar destruction in July. Parents are now left bearing the brunt of the damages, while hundreds of candidates face uncertainty over their KCSE preparations. Calls are mounting for urgent intervention to restore order and protect learning.
