Ryan Injendi, son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, has publicly decried the outcome of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) primaries in Malava, held on 20 September 2025.
Though many regarded him as a front-runner, he finished second to Kabras West MCA David Ndakwa.
Addressing the media, Ryan claimed that senior party officials orchestrated a rigging of the process. He accused them of hiring goons, tampering with results, and even suppressing his votes.
“They stole my votes,” he said, alleging that influential members had met with his competitor under opaque circumstances.
There were also reports of violence in some areas during the primaries, with at least one supporter injured.
Despite these grievances, Ryan has not abandoned UDA. He insists he will remain loyal to President William Ruto and the party. Looking ahead, he says his aim is to capture the Malava seat in the 2027 general election.
Here are some numbers from the primaries: Ndakwa won with 8,756 votes; Ryan garnered 6,262. Other contenders include Leonard Shimaka and Simon Kangwana.
