
The President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency, William Ruto has called the international community’s failure to support Haiti as “unacceptable, indefensible, & simply wrong,” urging urgent action with a clear mandate, predictable resources, & logistics.
Speaking about the situation in Haiti, the President noted the MSS’s success in driving gangs from key sites, restoring police facilities, reopening roads & reviving schools & hospitals, all at only 40% strength.
While reflecting on the dangers the vehicles exposed the officers serving in Haiti, President Ruto has called on the international community to urgently decide on the successor mission with 11 days to go.
Sources have confirmed that the government of Kenya deployed over 200 police officers to Haiti with the aim of stopping the Gang violence that has so far led to the death of over 1000 civilians.
The notorious gangs of Haiti is reported to have taken over parts of the city which are currently being recaptured by the Kenya police who are leading the mission.
This is happening at the same time when the National Police Service of Kenya has confirmed one fatality in the ongoing mission, after a Kenya police officer was killed in a Fatal Road Accident that also left 2 other civilians dead, over 8 officers who were injured were rushed to the Hospital where they were admitted.
Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen who spoke about the ongoing mission stated that the Kenya police have shown the world what they can do adding that Majority of the people thought that the police were not going to survive in Haiti.
