Kenyan political analyst Nelson Amenya has strongly criticized former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over his recent comments on the controversial Adani investment at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Amenya used social media to express his anger, accusing Raila of promoting a deal that could harm Kenya’s future.
In a post on X, Amenya dismissed Raila’s argument that Parliament blocked the Adani deal, insisting that the project had problems from the start.
He claimed that JKIA is already one of Africa’s most profitable airports and could easily attract investors through a transparent bidding process.
According to Amenya, pushing Adani back into the project is an attempt to bypass proper procedures.
“Every warning I gave about this deal was true,” Amenya said.
“If Raila and his allies truly cared about the airport, they would follow a proper tendering process instead of sneaking deals through the back door.”
Amenya also suggested that some people behind the deal are trying to avoid returning bribes and that Raila’s defense of the investment is just noise to cover these interests.
He did not hold back in criticizing Raila personally, saying the veteran politician should step away from active politics.
“Go home, old man. Spend your remaining years with your family instead of risking our country’s future,” Amenya wrote.
The outspoken analyst’s remarks have stirred debate online, with Kenyans sharply divided.
Some agree with Amenya’s view that the Adani project could bring corruption and hidden agendas, while others believe Raila’s experience is necessary for negotiating international investments.
The Adani deal, which was intended to modernize JKIA, has faced criticism from different quarters.
Concerns over transparency, potential financial risks, and parliamentary approval have made it one of Kenya’s most talked-about projects in recent years.
Raila has defended his role in trying to attract foreign investment, insisting that Kenya needs partners who can provide both funds and expertise to improve infrastructure.
