Residents of Embu County on Saturday held a candlelight vigil in memory of the late Mc Jobie, a renowned Master of Ceremonies whose life was cut short in a tragic road accident on September 13, 2025.
According to reports, the accident occurred when two boda-bodas collided in Embu, leaving Jobie and another man dead at the scene.
Police officers rushed to the site after being alerted by residents and moved the bodies to the mortuary.
News of the accident quickly spread, leaving family, friends, and fans in shock.
Mc Jobie had built a reputation as one of the most talented and promising MCs in the region, admired for his energy, charisma, and ability to light up events.
His untimely passing sparked a wave of grief across social media, where Kenyans from all walks of life expressed their condolences and shared fond memories.
Many described him as a young man full of ambition, gone too soon.
Among those who paid tribute was Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, who confirmed the heartbreaking news on her Facebook page.
She described Jobie as a visionary young man who knew what he wanted in life, sending her sympathies to his family and friends.
“May God grant the family peace and strength during this difficult time,” wrote the Governor.
Several Kenyans echoed the need for prayers, especially for the youth, citing the alarming rise in road accidents involving young people.
“Youths of this county, we need special prayers, especially on our roads. May God grant his family peace,” wrote one mourner, Robby Munene.
Another mourner, Dom Moraya, shared: “Very sad. Gone too soon.
My heartfelt condolences to family, friends, and you Mheshimiwa. May his soul rest in peace.”
However, not all reactions were positive.
Some netizens criticized the Governor, accusing her of hypocrisy for recognizing Jobie after his death while failing to support him during his lifetime.
One user, Tipsey Pius, recalled how Jobie had previously sought recognition and opportunities from the county leadership but received little attention.
Despite the mixed reactions, the overwhelming mood in Embu remained one of grief and reflection.
The candlelight vigil symbolized the community’s love for Mc Jobie and served as a reminder of the need for safer roads and greater support for young talent.
