Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has challenged Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and members of the Kenya Moja caucus to clarify their political position ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Tuesday, September 23, during the ‘Ukumbi Wa Siasa’ political talk show hosted by Elizabeth Mutuku on TV47, Natembeya urged the group to declare whether they support the broad-based government or stand firmly with the opposition.
The Trans Nzoia governor warned that the Kenya Moja team risked splitting the opposition vote if it continued to maintain a neutral position, a move he said could indirectly benefit President William Ruto’s re-election bid.
Natembeya dismissed claims linking him to the group, describing its indecisiveness as politically dangerous. He argued that while the leaders opposed the broad-based government, they had failed to fully align with the opposition, instead choosing to operate in the middle.
“You are either with us or against us,” Natembeya warned, stressing that one cannot belong to both sides at the same time.
Kenya Moja, a caucus of young leaders mainly from ODM and UDA, opposes the political arrangement between Raila Odinga’s ODM and Ruto’s UDA. Its members include Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Githunguri MP Muthoni Wamuchomba, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, and Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi.
The group has emerged as a third force in national politics, rivalling former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s united opposition and President Ruto’s team. However, some in the opposition have accused it of being a state project designed to weaken the opposition.
