For Member of County Assembly (MCA) races, ODM cleared candidates in different wards nationwide. Among them, Salimu Mohamed will fly the party’s flag in Chewani Ward, while Thomas Eshuya Oyolo has been picked to contest for the Kisa East Ward seat.
In Kajiado County, Daniel Naikuni secured the ODM ticket to vie for the Purko Ward seat, while Letolual Loisia was unveiled as the party’s choice to contest in Angata Nanyokie Ward during the forthcoming by-elections.
Elsewhere, ODM nominated Feisal Gedi as its flagbearer for Fafi Ward in Garissa County. Additionally, Mohammed Yussuf received his certificate to contest for the Naanam Ward seat in Turkana County, bolstering ODM’s spread across diverse regions.
The unveiling of candidates came shortly after ODM leadership pledged to vigorously pursue victory in all positions. Party leaders emphasized that their focus extends beyond short-term wins, highlighting long-term goals of strengthening the party base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the party’s 20th anniversary, ODM National Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga underscored the importance of grassroots victories. She emphasized that winning MCA positions in Turkana, Samburu, Nyamira, Narok, and Garissa was crucial for ODM’s sustained political dominance.
Wanga reminded members that ODM had 473 MCAs in 2022 and aims to expand this number to 600 by 2027. She urged party supporters and aspirants to unite, stressing that success in by-elections is the first step toward achieving this goal.
The chairperson also celebrated ODM’s 20 years in Kenyan politics, crediting the party for nurturing youthful leaders and building a strong political institution. She noted that ODM’s resilience, growth, and dominance demonstrate its continued relevance in shaping Kenya’s political landscape.
