A vocal ally of President William Ruto, who also runs a popular political blog, has sharply criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent remarks targeting Mt Kenya MPs. Gachagua is reported to have urged Kikuyu residents to heckle and walk out on legislators who do not support his political agenda.
The blogger accused Gachagua of inciting chaos in the region, saying such tactics only expose his desperation and loss of political ground. The Ruto ally claimed that Gachagua’s approach is divisive and could lead to unnecessary tension among communities that have so far maintained political calm under the Kenya Kwanza government.
Gachagua had lashed out at a section of Mt Kenya MPs, accusing them of choosing money and personal benefits from Ruto’s camp over the interests of the people who elected them. He blamed these leaders for complicating his efforts to assert influence in the region and accused them of undermining his leadership.
The criticism from the Ruto ally signals growing friction between top figures in the ruling coalition. Analysts believe the internal power struggle in Mt Kenya could have serious implications for the political balance as the country edges closer to the next election season.
