A chilling incident has shocked residents of Kakamega after a woman allegedly attempted to kill her husband through poisoning before later attacking him with a knife.
According to the couple’s daughter, her mother, Veronica Muhale, appeared unusually agitated on the day of the incident. She gave me a special cup to pour milk for Dad and told me not to ask too many questions, the girl recalled. I poured the milk into the cup, but she seemed to hide something inside it. I wondered what it was, then quickly served my dad another cup instead.
Investigations later revealed that Veronica had purchased rat poison, intending to slip it into her husband’s drink. When her plan failed, she allegedly shifted to a more violent approach. The daughter further disclosed that Veronica had earlier sent her to buy a sharp knife, claiming she needed it for medicinal purposes. She then hid the weapon under her mattress.
On September 19, 2025, Veronica reportedly attacked her husband in their home, using the knife to cut off his private part, leaving him with life-altering injuries. Shocked neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing the man’s screams, only to find him bleeding profusely.
The suspect fled immediately after the attack, sparking an intense manhunt by authorities. Residents gathered outside her home in disbelief, expressing outrage and concern over the brutal act. Police have launched investigations as the victim recovers under medical care.
