President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, has criticized the opposition, accusing them of wasting valuable time and energy on divisive politics instead of presenting credible ideas. He argued that their obsession with Kasongo demonstrates misplaced priorities that weaken their momentum.
Speaking at PAG Tuiyogaa Church in Turbo Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, Farouk emphasized that Kenyans are more interested in development and unity rather than political rivalries. He urged leaders to avoid tribal divisions, insisting such tactics will not succeed.
He dismissed the opposition’s constant calls for Kasongo’s removal, questioning their fixation on an individual who remains unknown to many Kenyans. Farouk reminded the public that William Ruto is the elected president and deserves full recognition.
Highlighting government programmes, Farouk encouraged Kenyans to enroll in the Social Health Authority (SHA) scheme. He said the initiative would ensure affordable healthcare for families, stressing that supporting such programmes is key to achieving the nation’s social and economic development.
The presidential aide expressed confidence in Ruto’s re-election chances, dismissing the strategies of the United Opposition led by Rigathi Gachagua. According to him, the government’s achievements within its first term already demonstrate strong public support ahead of 2027 polls.
At the event, Uriri MP Mark Nyamita praised President Ruto’s record, pointing to progress achieved during the administration’s three years in office. He said the opposition had failed to present alternative solutions or policies better than those being implemented.
Farouk also voiced concern over rising drug and alcohol abuse in Uasin Gishu and surrounding regions. He warned that the trend threatens families and the youth, urging urgent intervention from security agencies to prevent further destruction of lives.
He specifically called on law enforcement to intensify crackdowns on lorries allegedly transporting illicit brews into communities. Farouk said unless strong action is taken, substance abuse will continue destroying households and undermining the potential of young people in the region.
The event was attended by several leaders, including Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, Turbo MP Janet Sitienei, and MCA Nicholas Rende. They joined Farouk in rallying support for President Ruto while pledging collective action against drug abuse challenges.
