Fresh heat has landed on Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka after an ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua indirectly questioned his suitability to lead the country.
The ally, while addressing a charged crowd, suggested that a government led by Kalonzo would struggle to keep state secrets, claiming the Kamba community was too open and prone to exposing mistakes.
The remarks, already trending online, were captured in a viral clip that is making rounds on Facebook through this link. The statement has quickly ignited fierce reactions, with many seeing it as a veiled attack on Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions.
In the indirect mockery, the ally painted a picture of a presidency where even minor errors would be immediately publicized by whistleblowers, suggesting that Kalonzo’s administration would be weak on confidentiality. The comments were carefully delivered but carried a sharp political undertone targeting the Wiper leader’s long-held desire to occupy State House.
Observers note that the attack reflects growing unease within Gachagua’s circle about Kalonzo’s rising profile in the opposition alliance.
With ODM boss Raila Odinga now firmly working alongside President William Ruto in the Broad-Based Government, Kalonzo has positioned himself as the natural face of the opposition. That reality seems to be unsettling Gachagua’s camp, which is also trying to rally Mt. Kenya and other regions behind a separate political path.
The choice of words by the ally was also telling, as it mixed humor with ridicule, drawing laughter from the crowd while still sending a clear political message. The approach mirrors a common Kenyan style of indirect political warfare, mockery coated in jokes but aimed at undermining rivals.
As the battle for 2027 slowly takes shape, it is clear that Kalonzo’s name will not escape the lips of his opponents. For Gachagua’s allies, poking holes in Kalonzo’s credibility appears to be a tactic to weaken his momentum.
