Harambee Stars striker Masud Juma officially announced his entry into the political arena yesterday, declaring his intention to contest for the Isiolo North parliamentary seat in the 2027 general elections.
The announcement, made during a public rally in Isiolo town, has already stirred significant interest, as Juma, known for his football career and community engagement, joins a field crowded with veteran politicians including Hassan Odha, Jamhuri Guyo, Mwendwa Thuranira, Mohamed Duba, Sharif Osman, and Benjamin Lopitet.
Juma expressed his commitment to serve his community beyond the football pitch, highlighting his desire to address pressing local issues such as youth unemployment, infrastructure development, and access to quality education.
“I have always believed in giving back to the community that supported me throughout my career. Now, I want to use my experience and platform to make meaningful change for the people of Isiolo North,” he said.
Political analysts note that Juma’s entry could shake up the traditional voting patterns in the constituency, as his popularity among young voters and sports enthusiasts may present a fresh challenge to established politicians.
Campaign strategists also suggest that his celebrity status could translate into substantial grassroots support, though experience in political governance will be a critical factor in the upcoming race.
The aspirant plans to launch a series of community engagements across Isiolo North to introduce his manifesto and interact directly with constituents.
As the 2027 elections approach, the race for Isiolo North promises to be closely watched, blending sports fame with political ambition, and potentially redefining leadership dynamics in the county.
