Residents of Kebimbir village in Kericho County are still talking about what many describe as a miracle. An eight-month-old baby boy, Brighton, was found alive in a sugarcane plantation two days after the death of his mother.
When villagers discovered the child, he was weak, hungry, and fragile, yet still breathing. His survival in such harsh conditions—without food, protection, or care—left many speechless.
Brighton’s mother, who had been facing personal struggles, reportedly passed away a few days earlier. For family and friends, her death was already a heavy burden. The fact that her son managed to survive alone for days has now turned pain into a story of hope.
Local doctor Kelvin Kipchirchir Ufa, who was among the first to see the baby, described the discovery as nothing short of God’s grace. “This child is a testimony of resilience and divine mercy,” he said.
Since his rescue, Brighton has started gaining strength and health. His story has spread quickly across social media, with many Kenyans moved to offer support.
In Kebimbir, local youth led by Shaddy Bundiyot came together to visit the baby. They brought food, clothes, and toys as a way of showing love and solidarity. “We shall keep checking on him every holiday. He is God’s chosen,” one of the youth leaders said.

For many, Brighton is more than just a survivor. He now represents the power of community and the reminder that even in moments of tragedy, life can bring new hope.
As the sun set over Kebimbir, residents agreed on one thing—the little boy who lived through the impossible is no longer just a child of his family, but a child of the entire community.
