A high-stakes legal battle has erupted over a property in Kiambu, as the estate of a late business magnate engages in a bitter confrontation with the family of the county’s Deputy Governor.
The dispute involves assets allegedly worth Sh350 million and has drawn widespread public attention, given the parties involved and possible implications for governance and accountability.
According to sources close to the matter, the deceased tycoon had substantial real estate holdings in Kiambu, which are now claimed by multiple beneficiaries.
Among them, the Deputy Governor’s family has staked a significant claim, insisting that portions of the property were legitimately transferred to them before his passing.
The estate executors, however, contest these assertions, arguing that the claims are fraudulent or unsupported by legal documentation.
Legal filings seen by this journal indicate that the executors are demanding clear title deeds, contracts, and chain-of-ownership records from the DG’s family.
They also intend to pursue damages should any part of the property be found to have been misappropriated. Meanwhile, the DG’s family is said to have already taken steps to effect possession, including erecting boundary markers and initiating development activity.
Observers warn that this dispute risks tarnishing Kiambu County’s governance reputation, especially if questions of undue influence or abuse of office are proven.
Some legal experts suggest that the case may hinge on whether the DG’s family acted while the estate was still being administered—and whether those actions contravened fiduciary duties.
For now, both camps are in aggressive posture: the estate’s legal team vowing to protect the tycoon’s legacy, and the DG’s family asserting their rights.
The case has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Kiambu High Court next month, where the first test of documentary evidence is expected.
