Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has sounded the alarm after receiving a direct death threat through social media. The alarming message, which stated, “Ngunjiri Wambugu, we will kill you,” was posted by the ex-legislator on his own social media account to inform both the authorities and the public.
While the precise reason for the threat is not yet known, initial conjectures indicate it could be politically motivated. Wambugu has urged the public and relevant authorities to help identify the person responsible for the unsettling message.
The threat surfaced just a day after Wambugu made comments regarding recent remarks by Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Raila had declared that ODM plans to present a presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The former MP, while speaking on a local TV channel, characterized this move as a tactical effort to sustain political significance within the larger coalition.
