
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority is investigating the death of a suspect who died at Central Police Station in Mombasa.
The deceased who has been identified as Simon Warui allegedly stole ksh 170, 000 from his boss before he allegedly traveled all the way to Mombasa to have fun.
After spending the money, the deceased went to a Catholic Church where he asked for help before he was handed over to the police who took him to Central Police Station in Mombasa.
Police who spoke about his death claimed that the suspect died while trying to escape Police custody, he allegedly attempted to jump from the Wall of the cell, he died after falling.
“The suspect asked to go to the toilet and after being allowed to go to the toilet, he attempted to jump off the wall of the station, he fell and died” Police.
His Death sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans who took to their different social media platforms to send their condolences to his family, they called upon the Police to explain where the police were when he was trying to flee.
They also recounted the death of late teacher Albert Ojwang who also died In a similar manner at Central Police Station in Nairobi.
Sources have confirmed that late Ojwang was arrested by detectives from the directorate of criminal investigations in Homabay over an online post targeting the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eliud Lagat , they drove to Nairobi, held at Central Police Station where he allegedly killed himself, a report that was dismissed after it was established that he had been beaten to death in his cell.
