Police in Seme, Kisumu County have arrested Jecinter Akinyi, 47 for allegedly killing her 12-year-old won for stealing ksh 150.
According to the reports given by the police, the suspect confronted her son, wanting to know why he allegedly stole the money before the issue got out of hand.
The suspect poured kerosene on the body of the deceased whose name is yet to be revealed, she lit his body before he, Kevin, not his real, name was rushed to the Hospital by neighbors who put out the fire, he was admitted with 90% burns in his body.
Detectives from the directorate of criminal investigations who are attached to Kombewa police station visited the hospital after the deceased succumbed to his injuries, they recovered a burnt shirt that Kevin was wearing prior to his death.
Police who spoke about this incident revealed that this was not the first time the deceased was being accused of stealing, they describe him as a petty thief.
The suspect was immediately arrested by Police who took her to Kombewa police station where she is being held.
The incident caught the attention of several Kenyans who took to their different social media platforms to send their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
They also called upon parents to restrain themselves stating that the suspect is going to spend the rest of her life in jail for killing her son.
Section of Kenyans also called upon the Police to conduct a Mental assessment test in order to establish it the suspect is in her right state of mind.
