Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has announced that President William Ruto’s administration has so far delivered more than 1.3 million jobs since taking office, a figure he says demonstrates the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Speaking on Sunday, Mwaura emphasized that job creation remains the cornerstone of President Ruto’s economic agenda.
He noted that the Kenya Kwanza manifesto placed heavy focus on empowering ordinary Kenyans through employment, entrepreneurship, and investments that directly impact households.
“President Ruto has so far delivered over 1.3 million jobs and counting. We are not just talking, we are delivering. The youth can now see opportunities opening up in various sectors,” Mwaura declared.
According to the spokesperson, a significant share of the jobs have been realized through the government’s hustler-friendly policies, including affordable credit facilities, agricultural value-chain investments, and the expansion of digital platforms for online work.
Mwaura further highlighted the labour migration program, which has seen thousands of Kenyans secure opportunities abroad in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Canada.
He also pointed to the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as a direct result of government-backed initiatives like the Hustler Fund.
The announcement comes as the political temperature begins to rise with less than two years to the next election.
Analysts say the jobs narrative will be a critical selling point for the Kenya Kwanza administration, especially among the youth, who form the largest voting bloc.
Mwaura insisted that the government is on course to surpass its job creation targets by 2027.
“We promised jobs and dignity for our people, and the results are clear. This government is about action, not rhetoric,” he affirmed.
With unemployment remaining one of Kenya’s toughest challenges, the figures will likely be scrutinized, but for now, the Ruto government is banking on the message of delivery.
