A major fundraiser in Nairobi has brought new hope to children in Mandera County after over KSh 163 million was raised to support education.
The event, held at Radisson Blu Hotel, was led by President William Ruto and brought together leaders from politics, business, and religion. Their mission was clear—helping build and support ten madrassas under the Eltabashi Educational Trust.
President Ruto told the gathering that education remains the key to equality and growth in Kenya. He praised the trust for working to ensure children from poor backgrounds in Northern Kenya get the chance to learn.
“The more we open doors to education, the more empowered and prosperous our communities become,” Ruto said.
Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan confirmed that exactly KSh 163,218,000 was raised. He thanked the president, donors, and all who showed up, saying the contribution will directly change the lives of vulnerable children.
“This is a blessing to our county. We are grateful to everyone who made it possible,” Governor Adan remarked.
The fundraiser attracted big names, including Health CS Aden Duale, Governors Ahmed Abdullahi and Nathif Adam, Senator Ali Roba, MPs from the North Eastern region, and several corporate players. Religious leaders, women groups, and youth representatives were also present.

Among the notable contributors was Mustafa Brown, CEO of Browncop Security Limited, who pledged KSh 1.2 million. Brown, a young entrepreneur gaining recognition in philanthropy, stood out as one of the event’s highlights.
The successful fundraiser was seen as a strong show of unity across Kenya’s leadership. For many, it marked not just the raising of money, but the planting of a seed that could open doors of opportunity for children who might otherwise miss out on education.
