President William Ruto, currently in the United States for the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, is scheduled to hold high-level talks with stakeholders in the global entertainment industry.
On September 25, the Head of State will join a roundtable meeting with the U.S. Chamber’s U.S.-Africa Business Center and AmCham Kenya. The forum will bring together filmmakers, television producers, studio and streaming executives, sports industry leaders, and senior figures from the music industry to explore opportunities for collaboration.
The discussions aim to establish a production pipeline between Kenya and Hollywood. Executives from Los Angeles-based production company Indigo Reign Films are expected to participate, with filmmaker Evette Vargas set to present The Mara as a case study on global cooperation in the creative economy.
According to State House, the initiative is expected to create jobs, expand opportunities for small businesses, and boost Kenya’s tourism sector.
In addition to entertainment industry talks, President Ruto will use his U.S. visit to advocate for reforms in the global financial system. He will also push for fairer access to development financing for developing countries and highlight Africa’s demand for greater representation in the United Nations.
“He will also push for reforms of the United Nations to make it more inclusive and to address global peace and security challenges, including enhancing peace efforts in Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and Haiti,” said State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed.
