Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Sunday, September 21, warmly received President William Ruto upon his arrival in New York, USA, where the Head of State is set to lead Kenya’s delegation at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The two leaders met at John F. Kennedy International Airport before proceeding to the official hotel hosting the Kenyan delegation.
President Ruto’s visit marks a critical moment for Kenya on the global stage, with the country expected to push for stronger international cooperation on climate action, debt restructuring, and digital transformation.
Speaking after receiving the President, Mudavadi said the delegation is well prepared to represent Kenya’s interests and champion key issues affecting the African continent.
He noted that Kenya’s participation at the UNGA was an opportunity to showcase its leadership in peacekeeping, regional stability, and sustainable development.
President Ruto is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the UNGA, where he is expected to call for fair global financial systems, equitable climate financing, and enhanced support for Africa’s development agenda.
He will also hold bilateral talks with world leaders, including discussions on trade, technology partnerships, and security collaboration.
Kenya’s mission in New York has organised several side events to engage international investors and development partners, with a focus on attracting foreign direct investment into infrastructure, energy, and agriculture.
Political observers say Ruto’s presence at the UNGA underscores Kenya’s growing influence in global diplomacy and its commitment to advancing African priorities on the world stage.
