
A somber mood engulfed Roborwo village in Chepalungu, Bomet County, on Tuesday, September 23, as family, friends, and neighbours laid to rest 13-year-old Emmanuel Kimutai.
According to reports, Emmanuel allegedly lost his life at the hands of his biological father after being accused of drinking milk and eating slices of bread belonging to a neighbour. Witnesses say the brutal beating left the boy with severe chest injuries, internal bleeding, and damaged lungs.
The Grade Six pupil at Chebugon Primary School was reported to have died just hours before his classmates gathered for a prayer session. His death has left the school community and residents of the wider Chepalungu area in deep shock.
Photos and videos shared online showed hundreds of mourners attending the burial, many struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. Tearful relatives described Emmanuel as a bright and cheerful child whose life was cut short in the most painful way.
The incident has since sparked widespread calls for justice, with residents and leaders urging police to conduct thorough investigations and hold those responsible accountable.
