The business community in Makueni and Machakos has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Dennis Kasyoki, a well known entrepreneur from Mbooni. Kasyoki lost his life in a grisly road accident along the Nairobi–Mombasa highway on Monday, September 22, 2025.
According to a report filed at Athi River Police Station, the crash occurred near the Primarosa area in Athi River when Kasyoki’s Ford Ranger collided with a Mercedes Actros trailer ferrying goods from Mombasa. Preliminary investigations indicate that the collision happened after an abrupt lane change, which caused both vehicles to lose control. The trailer overturned, landing on Kasyoki’s vehicle and crushing it completely.
Kasyoki died on the spot from the impact. Another occupant, identified as James Mwangangi Mulatya, sustained injuries and was rushed to Shalom Community Hospital in Athi River for treatment. The trailer driver escaped unhurt. Police officers arrived at the scene to manage the wreckage and open investigations into the cause of the accident.
News of the tragedy spread quickly across Makueni, where Kasyoki was widely admired for his business acumen and philanthropic spirit. Fondly referred to as “Nzou” by friends, he had built a reputation as a generous community supporter who often extended help to local initiatives and individuals in need.
