
A family in Syokimau, Machakos is demanding answers after their 11-year-old child drowned and died during a swimming Gala at Syokimau Blessed Assurance Academy.
The deceased who has been identified as Jael Nabalayo drowned during a swimming training, her body was recovered by a life guard who found the body of the deceased in the swimming pool.
A video that is currently making rounds on social media platforms shows the body of the deceased floating in the swimming pool. A life guard who pulled her out of the water rushed her to the Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The father, Zacheus Nabalayo revealed that they are planning to bury the deceased in Kitale before they move to court in attempts to establish what happened prior to her death.
Mr. Nabalayo :”We are planning to bury her in Kitale, then we are going to move to court in attempts to find out who is to Blame because the children are supposed to be guarded when they are in school. We want to understand what happened because is is so painful for us to lose a child in such an incident.”
An official from the school who spoke about this incident sent his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, he also described the incident as painful and unfortunate adding that the school is helping the police with their ongoing investigation.
Section of Kenyans on social media platforms also sent their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, they expressed their concern wanting to know why the school was not aware of the dead child even though they were in a swimming pool.
