Residents of “Umrembo” village in North “Ugenya”, Siaya County, are in shock following the alleged murder of a local woman by her househelp.
The suspect, a Ugandan national, reportedly killed her employer and secretly buried the body in a shallow grave within the homestead before fleeing the scene.
Neighbor Joyce Lugaye, one of the first to learn of the incident, recounted the chilling events to TUKO.co.ke.
She noted that the crime occurred near Bumala at a place called Nyambiro. The employer’s husband resides in Nairobi, adding to the family’s distress.
The community is grappling with the betrayal, as domestic workers are typically trusted members of households. Many villagers expressed feelings of betrayal and fear, with one elder stating, “We feel betrayed.
This was someone trusted to care for the home, not destroy it. We just want justice for our neighbor.”
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
Investigations are ongoing, and police have assured the community that justice will be served.
However, for the people of “Umrembo” village, the emotional scars may take longer to heal.
