Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has defended his administration’s record on national security, saying his government laid a strong foundation to keep the country safe. He noted that despite initial difficulties, his team invested heavily in modernizing and strengthening security structures.
Kenyatta explained that reforms were carried out within the security organs to improve efficiency and coordination. By adopting a comprehensive inter-agency approach, security agencies became more capable of countering both domestic and external threats.

The former Head of State highlighted that new technologies, better training, and improved intelligence systems were rolled out to match emerging security challenges. These measures, he said, created a stable environment that has allowed Kenya to deal with terrorism, organized crime, and cross-border risks effectively.
Kenyatta assured Kenyans that the country remains secure even under President William Ruto’s leadership. He stressed that the systems and strategies established during his tenure were designed to be sustainable and continue protecting citizens regardless of political transitions.
He added that investments in border control, surveillance, and counter-terrorism were some of the key pillars of his security agenda. These, according to him, have reduced vulnerabilities and given Kenya an advantage in preventing attacks.
Kenyatta also pointed out that cooperation between different security agencies eliminated past rivalries and improved response time during crises. He emphasized that the unity of security institutions was a major achievement that safeguarded national stability.
In his remarks, he urged Kenyans to have confidence in the country’s ability to withstand threats. He maintained that no enemy could easily destabilize Kenya, thanks to the resilience and preparedness of its security forces.
Kenyatta has affirmed that, the safety of citizens is guaranteed. He expressed confidence that the systems he established will continue to secure the nation for years to come.
