Eunice Mutiembu Masinde, a single mother with two small kids, survives by begging on the streets of Kitale town.
Jobless, she spends her day on the streets, trying to gather money to keep her girls in school while dealing with restricted mobility.
Eunice is now asking to well-wishers for a wheelchair, even a used one, because the one she had broke down.
Eunice, a single mother of two kids who are still in school, has been surviving by begging on the streets, her tenacity hiding the everyday difficulties she faces.
How Eunice makes a living Eunice, who is limited in her mobility, told TUKO.co.ke that she relies on the goodwill of others to make ends meet.
Every morning, she leaves her modest rental home to take a seat outside the store, hoping that a few dollars will help her feed and keep her children in school.
But, beyond the daily fight for existence, her most urgent need is for a wheelchair. She stated that the wheelchair she had been using had broken down and was no longer functional.
“I am asking well-wishers to help me get a wheelchair, even if it is secondhand,” she says quietly. “It would make it easier for me to move around and look for ways to provide for my daughters.”
Regardless of her circumstances, Eunice’s main worry is that her two daughters finish their education, thinking it is the key to a brighter future.
However, with no consistent source of income and restricted mobility, she faces an uphill struggle. Eunice’s petition is straightforward but heartfelt: she wishes to reclaim her freedom, alleviate her load, and restore dignity in her everyday motions.
